TORONTO — Canada’s hotel development pipeline has seen a 6.9-per-cent increase in the number of rooms compared to September 2012, according to the September 2013 STR Pipeline Report.

According to the report, Canada’s hotel development pipeline currently comprises 200 projects with a total of 22,352 rooms.

Meanwhile, the upscale segment has recorded the only double-digit increase in rooms in the active pipeline, rising 26.7 per cent with 6,969 rooms.
