VANCOUVER — Vito Romeo is the new GM of Shangri-La Hotel Vancouver.

Romeo formerly worked at the 670-room Shangri-La’s Beijing, where he served as resident manager from 2009 to March 2012. Romeo began his hospitality career in 1987 working as an apprentice chef at La Coupole Hotel Mirabeau in Monte Carlo. He then served as resident manager of the Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo. Romeo joined Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts in 2008 as the executive assistant manager of food and beverage at the company’s Aberdeen Marina Club in Hong Kong where he was in charge of extensive recreation and meeting facilities.

Romeo replaces Richard Cooke, who served as interim GM in Vancouver, before relocating to Toronto to oversee the August opening of Shangri-La Hotel, Toronto.
