VANCOUVER — Sandman Hotel Group has announced that it is now accepting bitcoin as a valid form of payment. Guests can make reservations at more than 40 hotels across Canada using the online currency.
“Our hotels had a number of inquiries regarding payment through alternative payments including bitcoin. As a customer-focused company with an eye on technology, we decided to incorporate this emerging technology as a payment option,” said Salim Kassam, VP, marketing, Sandman Hotel Group. “We feel that bitcoin and cryptocurrencies may be here to stay.”
Guests interested in paying in this format can visit Sandman’s website and select bitcoin as the payment option. An e-invoice is sent to the guest where they can accept an transfer payment. Once payment is confirmed, the reservation is made.
Sandman has partnered with bitcoin payment processors Coinbase, an international digital wallet. Bitcoin is the world’s most widely used alternative currency.
