VANCOUVER — Sandman Hotel Group has acquired the 95-room Squamish, B.C.-based Holiday Inn Express Hotel, which will now be operated under the name Sandman Hotel & Suites Squamish.

The property opened in 2010, and is the newest hotel in the area. Spread over three floors, it features 95 rooms, with high-quality bedding, high-speed Internet, mini refrigerators, microwaves and flat-screen televisions.

“We are very excited to announce this acquisition, as it puts us firmly along the Sea-to-Sky corridor,” said Salim Kassam, vice-president of Marketing. “The District of Squamish is no longer a roadside attraction. Thanks to the massive exposure brought on by the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games, Squamish is now a destination for tourists and locals.”

The opening of the Sandman Hotel & Suites Squamish, bring the brand’s count of total properties opened in the last 15 months to five. Sandman recently opened additional locations in Prince George and Abbotsford, B.C., as well as Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta, bringing its total number of properties in the collection to 41.
