REGINA — The Radisson Plaza Hotel Saskatchewan has taken another step in water and energy savings, by becoming the first hotel in Regina to own an ORCA Green Machine.

As an alternative to traditional waste disposal, the machine turns food waste to water in 24 hours, while managing food waste on-site, thereby decreasing waste from landfills and reducing methane gas production. The process also keeps kitchens cleaner, with less insects and rodents.

The hotel’s new ORCA is the latest step in its water and energy savings efforts, including its ‘Clean the World’ recycling program, whereby 538 lbs of soap were collected and recycled into new soap for impoverished countries, resulting in 2,869 new bars of soap.
