CHARLOTTETWON — The Tourism Advisory Council is helping P.E.I. tourism operators increase late-summer business by offering a travel-incentive program, from Aug. 20 to Sept. 6.

P.E.I. operators are being encouraged to offer 20-per-cent discounts on accommodations and 30-per-cent discounts for access to Northumberland Ferries and Confederation Bridge. “You have to have added value,” John-Anthony Langdale, chair of the Council, is quoted as saying by CBC News. “You have to give people a reason to either come the first time or to come back.”

Tourism P.E.I. is expected to send more than 400,000 emails advertising operator deals. Hoteliers have two weeks to prepare packages.
