NANAIMO, B.C. — Nanaimo city council has approved plans to build a new luxury hotel on the British Columbia municipality’s Gordon Street.

“[The hotel] will have a significant impact as far as raising awareness about our community,” Sasha Angus, CEO, Nanaimo Economic Development Corporation, was quoted as saying by the NanaimoBulletin.com, the online version of the city’s local paper.

The $50-million, 17-storey luxury hotel will be built by SSS Manhao, a Canadian subsidiary of Suzhou Youth Travel Services Co. Ltd.
