WASHINGTON — Even as Canada’s Conservative government continues to be criticized for the millions spent on the G8 Muskoka, Ont., event last year, the region has been ranked number 1 on National Geographic Traveler magazine’s list of the 10 Best Summer Trips of 2011.
Muskoka beat out other regions such as: Patagonia, Argentina; San Juan Islands, Washington; and Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska. According to National Geographic, Muskoka offers “an unplugged pace that’s a world away from Canada’s largest city.”
