MOOSOMIN, Sask. — G6 Hospitality announced yesterday that its Motel 6 property in Moosomin, Sask. is installing roof-mounted tube panels to be used as a natural-heat source by attracting power from the sun. Each solar panel consists of 20 vacuum-formed tubes, which limit the effects of wind and cold temperatures on the efficiency of the evacuated collector.

Motel 6 recently introduced other environmentally friendly initiatives such as the addition of fluorescent light bulbs in all rooms, low-flow shower heads, high-efficiency toilets, and high-efficiency heating and air-conditioning units. It has also implemented several programs that incorporate recycling, energy and water conservation.

“We are very proud to see our franchise partners’ commitment to finding innovative ways to help our environment,” says Dean Savas, EVP Franchise and International Development at G6 Hospitality. “This solar initiative aligns with our desire to embed sustainability into every part of our business operations.”
