CALGARY — Marriott is bringing its Renaissance ClubSport hotel and fitness resort concept to Canada, with the opening of a site in Calgary.

The Calgary-based hotel management company New Urban has announced the acquisition of a development site in Victoria Park and has signed a management agreement with the U.S. based-Marriott International. “This is a unique opportunity for Calgary that will raise the bar for the full-service hotel market,” said Dan Van Leeuwen, New Urban’s president and CEO. “We are excited to work with Marriott International and their Renaissance ClubSport brand to bring something new to Calgary and make our mark on the revitalization of Victoria Park.”

The 160,000-square-foot 200-room hotel will feature a 60,000-square-foot fitness club and 55,000 square feet of retail space. The 60,000-square-foot ClubSport will be part workout facility and part social club. Members will have access to the fitness resort, the hotel’s restaurant and bar, the day spa, the business services, the meeting rooms and more.
