TORONTO — Kostuch Media, publisher of Foodservice and Hospitality and Hotelier magazines, is revving up for the 2012 Pinnacle Awards, with the announcement of this year’s winners. That list begins with Toronto’s Smoke’s Poutinerie taking the Company of the Year prize for F&H and St. John’s, N.L.’s Fortis Properties nabbing the Company of the Year prize for Hotelier.

“As the economy continued to struggle this year, it was the strong, innovative companies, who thrived, providing a benchmark for excellence in the fields of foodservice and hospitality,” said Rosanna Caira, editor and publisher of Kostuch. “We commend the winners and wish them continued success in leading the industry to new heights in what is expected to be a promising new year”

The other winners on the foodservice side are: Vancouver’s Browns Socialhouse for Regional Company of the Year; Calgary’s Charcut Roast House for Independent Restaurateur of the Year; David Hawksworth of Hawksworth Restaurant in Vancouver for Chef of the Year, Quebec’s Saputo for Supplier of the Year and Toronto’s Pizza Nova for Franchise Excellence. And, in a special salute, John Bishop of Bishop’s in Vancouver will be honoured with a Lifetime Achievement award.

On the hospitality side, Heather McCrory, Regional VP, Central Canada and GM, The Fairmont Royal York, Toronto has been named Hotelier of the Year. And, Tony Pollard, president of the Hotel Association of Canada (HAC), will be recognized for his Lifetime Achievement in the field, as HAC prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary.
