CALGARY — Ken Kirkby, GM of Super 8 Peterborough, Ont., has been named General Manager of the Year by Wyndham Hotel Group.

“Ken Kirkby is one of those rare industry leaders. His focus on superior guest satisfaction, amplified by guest recognition and appreciation, is a hallmark of the service-orientation that has taken his team to be consistently recognized with awards,” says Marc Staniloff, president and CEO, Superior Lodging Corp., which is the territorial developer of Super 8 in Canada. “Ken has depth of experience over his 25 year career and it shows.”

To be eligible for the award, each candidate must be an active member of his/her community in addition to being a general manager of a “Pride-of-Super-8” hotel.

“This is a tremendous honour,” says Kirkby, who has worked at the Super 8 Peterborough since the hotel was constructed in 2008. “I am humbled by the award as there are many outstanding general managers in the Super 8 System. I consider myself fortunate to do the work that I love to do and to work with a team that welcomes the challenge to take the operation and the guest experience to the next level, year after year.”
