ATLANTA — Mobile innovations are taking shape at the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), which recently unveiled a new website, mobile check-in (and check out), upcoming mobile room key technology, and more.

“We continuously gather insights from consumers, which enable us to research, develop, pilot and launch new ways of engaging with guests across their guest journey. The initiatives we are showcasing today are really exciting because they reinforce how our digital capabilities add value beyond the booking opportunity. They are an illustration of how we evolve our content strategy to stay connected with guests and develop more meaningful relationships with them,” said Michael Menis, SVP, Digital and Voice Channels, IHG.

Some of the new amenities offered include IHG’s stay.com, a website geared to helping guests research and plan their travel and create a personalized travel guide to share with friends. Guests can also use their smartphone to check in and out and receive their final bill in real time on their mobile device via the IHG mobile app, as well as make service requests and track the progress of their request.

In the U.S., the group is testing new technology that will support mobile room keys, and in China, iBeacon technology is being used in the hotels’ lobbies and restaurants, which will push personalized notifications to guests in the vicinity.
