DALLAS — Complimentary breakfast, on-site restaurants and free Wi-Fi are the three most important hotel amenities to travellers, based on a new Hotels.com survey, which ranks the top 10 attributes at a hotel property and top 10 guestroom amenities.
Parking, 24-7 front-desk service, a smoke-free hotel, swimming pool, bar, air conditioning and the availability of coffee or tea in the lobby rounded out the top 10 overall amenities. But, when it came to in-room amenities, the survey found priorities shifted. Instead, free Wi-Fi topped the list, followed by a bathroom with a shower, room size, TV and air conditioning. The availability of coffee and tea, plus non-smoking rooms, premium bedding, daily housekeeping and mattress type rounded out the list.
Respondents also indicated child-friendly amenities, pet-friendly services and hair salons are not important to them when choosing a hotel property. And, interestingly, although one-third of respondents were business travellers, the availability of conference centres and business rooms was ranked as one of the least important amenities.
