BEIJING — At least four major international hotel chains have apologized for an 11-minute hidden-camera video showing cleaners wiping cups and sinks with dirty towels and sponges, according to CTV News. The video also shows the cleaners using the same towel to wipe the toilet seat.
The Shangri-La Hotel in Fuzhou; Park Hyatt in Beijing; The Waldorf Astoria in Shanghai; and the Sheraton in Guiyang, apologized and say they are reviewing practices and procedures following the video’s release.
Hilton and Marriott properties were also among the 14 luxury hotels included in the video. An activist blogger posted the video Wednesday night and it was shared 78,000 times by Thursday afternoon.
