TORONTO — With a storied history, and a controversial beginning, the management team at One King West has embarked on a $2-million series of renovations, which will be completed later this spring.
The Ontario Heritage building, which previously housed the Dominion Bank in the late 1800s, opened in 2006 as a mixed-use hotel featuring strikingly ornate architectural features, modern elegance and timeless elegance. The renovation will focus on creating a better product for guests and corporate clients. “The aim is to celebrate the history of a space built nearly 100 years ago by tying in modern finishes and textures with the classic design elements within the hotel,” said Matt Black, sales and marketing director.
The centrally located Toronto mixed-use hotel will offer guests reinvigorated common areas as well as beautified event spaces with environmental responsible functionality. The areas that will have with the greatest improvements are the lobby, the venue spaces, the business centre and the hotel’s bistro on King, which will include an expanded buffet area and a new menu.
As part of a growing green responsibly, $1 million has been dedicated to an energy project aimed at improving efficiency within the building. The hotel’s heating and cooling systems will be switched from steam to gas and new windows will be installed in all of the historic areas for more efficient energy consumption. |
