TORONTO — The Hotel Association of Canada (HAC) recently celebrated its 6th annual Hall of Fame Awards of Excellence Program, with an afternoon ceremony celebrating the top industry achievements at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel.

“The goal of HAC’s awards program is to reward strong standards in the industry that will enable this country to remain competitive,” said Tony Pollard, president of HAC, of the ceremony that included a greeting from Maxime Bernier, Minister of State for Small Business and Tourism.

The Humanitarian award was presented to Jim Hill and the Sawridge Inn & Conference Centres in Slave Lake and Edmonton South, for their efforts during the Slave Lake Fires; the Human Resources award was given to Michelle Cosh and her team from the Westin Hotel Ottawa, honouring their contribution to the hospitality industry; and the Energy and Environment award was given to Groupe Robin and Hotel M- Holiday Inn Express & Suites Saint-Hyacinthe for making the hotel the first LEED-certified property in Canada.
