TORONTO — Hoteliers of the 170-hotel strong Greater Toronto Hotel Association have registered to lobby city officials on plans to build a new local casino, reports the Toronto Star.

According to the paper, association reps aren’t sure about a new casino, but they are interested in the idea of an entertainment complex that could attract more tourists to Toronto.

The city has been toying with the idea of building a casino in the Toronto area for a few months, with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. announcing plans to open one in the Greater Toronto Area.

Interestingly, MGM representatives visited Toronto recently, sparking rumours that the company is considering building a Las Vegas-style casino and entertainment complex in the city.
