BETHESDA, Md. — Marriott International has announced plans to open its first Courtyard by Marriott in Bogota, Columbia.

“The new Courtyard by Marriott in Bogota will be a significant milestone in our rapid expansion across Latin America,” said Craig S. Smith, president, Caribbean & Latin America, Marriott International. “The hotel will feature a modern, functional design.”

The 146-room property, part of a mixed-use complex slated to open April 2014, will be located on Avenida El Dorado, which places the hotel close to the new multimillion-dollar terminal at El Dorado International Airport. The hotel will feature a business lobby and bar, a casual-dining restaurant, meeting space and recreational facilities, including a pool and sauna. Additionally, it will include the brand’s new modern guestroom design.

The Latin market is an important region for the Maryland-based chain. Marriott operates the JW Marriott Hotel and the Bogota Marriott Hotel in the Columbian capital. Two hotels being developed in the country are the 278-room Cartagena Marriott Hotel and the 170-room Cali Marriott Hotel, both scheduled to open in 2014.
