LAS VEGAS — A Canadian hotel won top honours at Choice Hotel International’s 60th annual convention in Las Vegas last week.

The Quality Inn & Suites Val D’or in Val-d’Or, Que. earned the title of 2014 International Hotel of the Year as well as the Canadian Hotel of the Year by Choice Hotels Canada.

The property was chosen from 1,200 Choice franchised properties outside the U.S., which demonstrate exceptional service and lodging excellence. “General manager Michael Prince and the entire team in Val d’Or have set a new international standard,” said Tim Oldfield, managing director, Choice Hotels Canada. “Excelling at guest service and property maintenance each and every day, the Quality Inn & Suites in Val d’Or has established itself as a world leader in hospitality.”

The Quality Inn & Suites Val D’or beat 12 nominees to win the Canadian Hotel of the Year award for its commitment to superior service, hotel quality and guest satisfaction.
