PHOENIX — Todd Davis, CIO of Choice Hotels International, and Scott Gibson, CIO and SVP of Distribution and Strategic Services at Best Western International, recently took home honours at the annual CIO of the Year & Innovations in Technology Awards, organized by the Phoenix Business Journal and Arizona Technology Council.

“With some executives, it’s easy to spot the good ones, but CIOs often don’t get the recognition they deserve, because they tend to operate behind the scenes,” reads the wrap-up story published in the Phoenix Business Journal, of the event that honoured 16 leaders from multiple industries.

Davis, who joined Choice Hotels in 1995, is credited with launching ChoiceAdvantage, a cloud-based property-management system that enables hotel operators to manage their business through the Internet.

Gibson, who’s been with Best Western since 2005, is responsible for the global electronic channel distribution, central reservations delivery and more. He’s helped the company become a leader in travel technology, garnering accolades for bestwestern.com by Compuware, which dubbed it “best in web.”
