VANCOUVER — Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver has been named one of the world’s top 2012 hotels according to the annual survey by Travel + Leisure magazine.

“We are thrilled with this type of recognition,” said Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver hotel manager, Kari Koskela. “To be named one of Canada’s top hotels affirms the ongoing efforts made to ensure every guest’s experience is the best that it can be.”

The hotel was the only Canadian hotel to make the top 50 list. Almost 20 per cent of the winners were in the United States, including Charleston’s Wentworth Mansion and the Osprey at Beaver Creek, Co, a recently renovated ski-in, ski-out hotel. Tanzania’s Singita Grumeti Reserve ranked number 1 for the second year in a row. A number of other top world hotel properties included Park Hyatt in Buenos Aires, Fairmont Mara Safari Club in Kenya, Waldorf Astoria in Chicago, and the Four Seasons Hotel Instanbul.

There were also a few newcomers to the list, which included Nayara Hotel, Spa & Gardens, near Costa Rica’s Arenal volcano, which debuted at Number 6 and Australia’s Southern Ocean Lodge, which jumped to Number 3 on the list.
