SAINT-GÉDÉON, Que. — Richard Hébert, Member of Parliament for Lac-Saint-Jean and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Small Business and Export Promotion, recently announced that Auberge des Îles will receive a $500,000 repayable contribution from Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED).

“The Government of Canada wholeheartedly supports projects that have a positive impact on tourism and the local economy,” says The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister responsible for CED. “Through this support for the upgrading of the Auberge des Îles, the Government of Canada is reaffirming its commitment to promote tourism in the regions of Quebec.”

The resort, located on Lac Saint-Jean in Saint-Gédéon, Que., will use the funding to renovate its accommodation units and set up new infrastructure to better meet the needs and expectations of both domestic and international guests. The plans include modernization of its rooms and common areas, as well as the addition of an indoor semi-Olympic pool, a water play area, a fitness room and an interactive gaming room.

“I am delighted with CED’s support, which will help ensure that this ambitious Auberge des Îles revitalization project can go ahead,” says Eric Larouche, president, Auberge des Îles. “Our clients seek a unique experience and high-quality accommodations and we will endeavour to meet expectations by renovating our facilities and adding service infrastructure.”
