TORONTO — Airbnb has added Alex Dagg to its growing policy team to lead the company’s Canadian Public Policy work.

In her new role as director of Canadian Public Policy, Dagg will focus on strengthening the company’s relationships with government officials, small business owners, civic leaders and Airbnb’s more than 50,000 hosts across Canada.

Prior to joining Airbnb, Dagg spent more than four years as the director of Operations at the National Hockey League Players Association, where she helped lead the organization through the 2012 NHL players’ lockout.

“As cities across Canada — from Vancouver to Montreal, Toronto to Halifax and communities in between — consider the best approaches to regulating home sharing — a step we welcome — we are lucky to have Alex Dagg advocating for the right of everyday people to share their homes across Canada in order to make some extra income to help make ends meet,” says Chris Lehane, global head of Public Policy and Public Affairs at Airbnb.
