PARIS — Accor’s world hotel ranking will slip to number five, behind Choice hotels, following the sale of Motel-6/Studio-6 brands, according to a report from the European-based MKG Group.
Accor is expected to lose almost 1,102 hotels and 107,000 rooms once the sale of Motel 6 and Studio 6 is finalized later this year. Removal of these brands from the portfolio will place the company behind IHG, Hilton Worldwide, Mariott International, Wyndham Hotel Group and Choice Hotels International.
According to MKG, Accor is now out of debt with funds available for new development, which is already in the pipeline.
